Jan Karon is an American author, best known for her series of novels set in the fictional town of Mitford. She was born on August 14, 1937, in Lenoir, North Carolina. Karon's most famous work is the "Mitford Years" series, which follows the life and adventures of an Episcopal priest named Father Tim Kavanaugh.
